In 1994, Florida Blue Key established the Gator Guard society to honor exceptional individuals for their outstanding dedication to the art of forensics. Induction into Gator Guard is a special distinction given in recognition of an overwhelming and tremendous dedication to the speech and debate community, the Blue Key Speech & Debate Tournament, and the National Forensic League. When appropriate, the Florida Blue Key Speakers Bureau Executive Committee will induct new members into Gator Guard as a mark of respect for a distinguished lifetime of service and achievement.
